In this project, the task in a body shop was to transport the cars from the lower workshop level to the upper one. The platform was 5700mm long and 4000mm wide. Normally, car lifts require a smaller platform width, but here the cars in the workshop are pushed onto the car lift table with the doors partially open. Car lift project process

The first step in this project was that the architect found out about car lifts from us. For such inquiries, we advise you in advance over the phone or, if necessary, in person on site and give practical tips. As soon as it was clear what was needed, we created a free offer.

In the next step we created a shaft plan and a system drawing. All the necessary empty pipes for the required components and the gate dimensions are also marked in the shaft plan. After assembly, acceptance was carried out by an authorized civil engineer and the customer was involved.

This car lift connects 2 hall levels in a workshop. The lifting height for this project is over 4 meters.

So that no one can fall down from the upper floor when the stage is below. But nobody can climb under the stage when it is at the upper stop, so we have installed roller shutters in both stops.

The gates are equipped with forced contacts / locks and are connected to the elevator control. This means that the respective gate can only be opened when the car lift is in this position. Likewise, the lift for cars can only be moved if both gates have been closed properly.

Another safety device for lifting tables that connect two floors is the so-called bolt lock.

When raised, the car lifting table lifts approx. 50 mm above the upper level; four bolts automatically extend to the side of the lifting table platform. The lifting table then lowers until it rests on its counterparts in the wall. We send these bar pockets in advance so that they can be concreted into the appropriate position. During assembly we can correct the height by a few centimeters.

On the one hand, the bolt lock ensures that the lifting table does not deflect when a car weighing several tons is pushed onto it. On the other hand, it also ensures that the hydraulic lifting table does not lower if it is parked in the upper stop for a longer period of time.

Guide rail in the shaft

A guide rail is installed across the entire height of the shaft, which ensures that the lifting table can be moved up and down exactly vertically. This is particularly recommended for systems with a large useful stroke, as scissor lift tables can sway when extended.

Depending on the car lift design or shaft design, one or more guides are attached. A corresponding counterpart with sliding jaws is mounted in the platform to ensure long-term functionality.

Roller guides are also used in some projects. Depending on local and technical specifications, a decision is made during construction as to which type of guide will be used.

Control and drive of the car lift

In general, lifting tables, regardless of whether they are freight elevators or car lifts, must be equipped with an elevator control as soon as they connect two or more floors. There are a few differences compared to a standard lifting table control:
– mostly self-driving operation (press a button, the system drives automatically)
– Integrate and monitor door contacts
– Controlling the bolt lock
– Integration of safety components (light barrier, traffic lights, etc.)
– Fire control

The engine is significantly larger and more powerful than with Standard lifting tables, because the car lift's own weight is already greater. An emergency lowering is also installed as standard so that the car can be lowered in the event of a power failure.

The control and the motor must comply with the standard none have their own engine room. However, the installation site must be sufficiently large and properly lit. However, this can also be stipulated differently according to local building regulations. We always check this when placing an order.
