Overview of project images car lift

Our client, a garage and Ford dealership, was looking for an affordable solution to lift their customers' vehicles to the upper floor. A car lift with passenger transport was simply too expensive, which is why the client contacted us.

The task was to ensure passage on the lower floor and also to be able to lift cars, vans and goods to the upper floor.

Because the pit depth was severely limited by structural constraints, we opted for a column lift instead of a car lift. This has the advantage that the pit doesn't need to be as deep as with a lift.

On the ground floor, which is at street level, we installed a roller door on the outside. On the inside of the ground floor, there is a gate. When the platform is parked in the lowered position, a car can easily drive over the platform into the building.

If you want to lift the car to the upper floor, you must first close all the gates properly so that the control system allows the lifting movement.

Gate control project Ford

Securing the building interior with a gate

We secured the inner side of the car lift with a floor-to-ceiling gate. The two gate leaves are monitored by a positive contact. This means that the system only lifts when this gate is closed.

The outer side is secured with a roller door. This door also has appropriate thermal insulation to prevent cold air from entering the building in winter or hot air in summer. This door is also connected to our control system and only opens when the platform is in that position.

Upper Stop Project Ford

Folding door - space-saving yet secure

In the upper bus stop, on the first floor of the building, we installed a folding door because there wasn't enough space for a traditional revolving door. Each door panel consists of two smaller panels that can be folded together.

This gate is also equipped with forced contacts and is monitored by our control system.

Motor and control unit of the car lift

We mounted the motor and control unit near the elevator shaft, in a secure location. During the planning phase, it's important to ensure that conduits or cable routes are included to allow for the routing of power and hydraulic lines from the shaft to the equipment's installation location.

Unfortunately, this "little detail" is often forgotten on construction sites, requiring subsequent drilling or chiseling. Alternatively, cables and conduits can be surface-mounted, which is less aesthetically pleasing.

FAQ about the car jack

Frequently asked questions about the "problem" of how to move the car to another floor.

The car lift is used to move cars, vans, and goods from the ground floor to an upper floor. This solution is particularly suitable for workshops, car dealerships, and businesses that want to store or work on vehicles on multiple levels in a space-saving manner.

A car lift with passenger transport would have been significantly more expensive for the customer. Therefore, an affordable lifting solution was planned, specifically designed for vehicle and goods transport.

The available pit depth was severely limited by structural constraints. A column lift typically requires a shallower pit than a car lift and was therefore the better solution for this project.

Yes. When the platform is parked at the lower stop, a car can easily drive over the platform and into the building. This maintains access to the ground floor.

A roller door was installed on the outside of the ground floor and a gate on the inside. The roller door provides additional protection for the building against the cold in winter and the heat in summer, as it is appropriately insulated.

The gates are connected to the control system and monitored. The inner gate is equipped with positive contacts. The system only raises when all required gates are properly closed.

A folding door was installed on the upper floor because there was insufficient space for a traditional swing gate. Each door leaf consists of two smaller leaves that can be folded together. This door is also monitored by positive contacts.

The motor and control unit should be mounted in a secure location near the hoistway. It is crucial to include conduits or cable trays for power and hydraulic lines in the planning phase. Failure to do so often necessitates drilling or chiseling work later on.
